Teeth whitening
Whitening uses specific products to lighten the shade of natural teeth. At the clinic, we assess in-office treatment or dentist-supervised whitening with custom trays at home, according to your teeth and sensitivity.
When might an assessment help?
Suitability is determined at an individual examination. These signs alone are not a diagnosis.
Teeth darkened by coffee, tea, wine or smoking
An upcoming event and interest in a brighter smile
Healthy teeth you would like to lighten
Whitening as part of a wider cosmetic plan
Four stages, a clear plan
This is how treatment usually progresses. The stages, timing and cost are tailored after an individual examination.

Whitening under dental supervision
Before treatment, we check for problems that need attention first and discuss realistic shade expectations. Whitening does not change the color of crowns, veneers or fillings. The amount of lightening and how long it lasts vary between people.

Questions
worth
asking
Does whitening have side effects?
An initial examination and using products as instructed help reduce risks. Temporary sensitivity or gum irritation may occur. Stop treatment and contact the clinic if pain or significant irritation develops.
How long will the result last?
Duration varies with the starting shade, food and drink habits, smoking and maintenance. You receive guidance on caring for the result. Treatment does not need to be repeated automatically.
Why do I need an examination before whitening?
An examination checks for decay or other problems that whitening could aggravate and helps select a suitable approach for your sensitivity.
Can I whiten my teeth while pregnant or breastfeeding?
The clinic does not provide whitening during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How do in-office and at-home whitening differ?
In-office treatment is directly supervised by the team. Professional at-home whitening uses trays and a product selected for you, gradually and according to your dentist’s instructions. The choice depends on your teeth, sensitivity and available time. Both require an examination first, and neither whitens crowns or fillings. Read more about teeth whitening.
